Sport.Cardiff Table Tennis Finals Results

The Finals of the Cardiff Schools League where played on Monday at Sport Wales National Centre.

There was some great table tennis played by all the participants from across Cardiff, with over 80 participants taking part in the schools table tennis league and 10 schools within each catagory there could only be one winner.

Cardiff Secondary Schools League finals Draw

The Cardiff Schools Finals in association with Sport.Cardiff and the Table Tennis Association of Wales will be taking place this Monday 28th March at Sport Wales National Centre.

The winner of each match will go through to the Final of their catagory, whilst the losing teams will play eachother for 3rd and 4th position.

Tonypandy Community Club

On Saturday 19th March, Tonypandy Community Club hosted a lot of young talented players from all across the South Wales Area.
There was 6 players attendning from Tonypandy, 2 players from Ferndale, 2 players from Tonyrefail, 3 players from Cathays High School and 2 from Pontypridd High along with 4 players from the Welsh Squad,

All present enjoyed the training on offer.

South Wales High Potential Squad

South Wales are to have a new High Potential Squad starting from after Easter Holidays.

This squad will be training on a Monday Night at Sport Wales National Centre, Alongside the Cardiff Centre Of Excellence Squad from 5.00pm-7.00pm
This new Squad is to be made up from begginners and intermediate youngesters from around cardiff and the South Wales area so that we can accommodate our young and emerging talents in Wales.

6-8 Players will be seleceted within the next few weeks.

Welsh National Championships

This weekend saw the Welsh National Championships Held at Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.

The weekend showed some high quality table tennis played.

Ryan Jenkins took his 10th Welsh Senior Title equaling the Record of Alan Griffiths, Whilst Naomi Owen took another senior title proveing to be to strong for the Young Talent Of Charlotte Carey in the Final. In his come Ryan Owen made it to the final after beating Stephen Jenkins in his group in a 5 set thriller, and then beating Dan O'Connell in the Semi Final.

There was a 'Double, Double' in the Junior and Cadets event which saw Charlotte Carey win Both Junior and Cadet titles, with Conor Edwards achieveing the same in the boys. Conor Beat Ryan Oyler in the Semi Finals of cadets and then team mates Alex Prosser in the Final, Whilst in the Junior event Conor beating Welsh Number 1 Dan O'Connell in the Semi Finals and then oversaw Lee Morgan in the Final.

Cathays Player Thomas Goodall drew a tough group and finished third with Lee Morgan topping that group.

Team Championships of Wales

The final round of the Team Championships of Wales took place in Y Morfa North Wales.
Cathays Academy A managed to finish in 5th position in the Second Division narrowly missing out on 3rd or 4th place, whilst Cathays Academy B found the going tough in their first season in the Team Championships and finshed in 5th position. Both teams at times showed they can play well and compete but just fell short.

Cathays are now preparing and training hard to focus for the next season of the Team Championships of Wales where they will be looking to better themselves and be valuable contenders for their divisions.
