Caerphilly Olympic Day
Sport Caerphilly started its preparation for the 2012 London Olympics early, running the "Caerphilly
Olympics" at the National Indoor Athletics Centre at UWIC Cardiff this week.
Attending were 300 primary school pupils from the Caerphilly borough, and each school represented a country that will take part in the 2012 Olympics.
All pupils had the chance to try out 17 different sports during the day, presenting a golden opportunity to promote table tennis.
8 tables were staffed throughout the day by SE Wales Regional Coach Simon Oyler, SE Wales Regional Director Neil OConnell, and Ael-y-Bryn TTC's Cori Hynam.
The table tennis sessions were popular with the young people, and Sport Caerphilly will use feedback from the young people to arrange their 5/60 program for next year.
The televised event certainly raised the profile of table tennis in Caerphilly schools, and hopefully put a few young people through the door at Ael-y-Bryn TTC.
