The South East Schools Table Tennis Finals took place today at the Cardiff City Table Tennis Club.

Ten teams qualified from 4 regions within the South East of Wales.  Teams from Cardiff, Caerphilly, Rhondda and the Vale battled it out across two age catagories.

In the year 7 and 8 catagory it was the two Cardiff teams who qualified through the finals beating representative teams from Caerphilly and Rhondda on route. this set up a repeat final from the Sport.Cardiff schools finals of Cathays High School (Cardiff Champions) going up against the Cardiff Runners up of Rumney High School. It was Rumney High School who got of to a winning start going 2-0 up, Cathays then made it 2-1 before Rumney stepped up their games and took a 5-2 victory to gain revenge on their Cardiff Rivals.

The year 9 and 10 catagory was played in a round robin group with 5 schools all playing eacchother, After some great competitive matches it all come down to the last and final group game which was between Ferndale Comprehensive School and Ysgol Glantaf of Cardiff. Ysgol Glantaf took an early 1-0 lead and never looked back, they went on winning the match 5-1 and claimed the South East title.
Well done to all the participants who represented their schools at the South East finals and also to those who didn't quite make it into the final cut. Lets keep up the hard work within our school programmes and hopefully next year your school can make the finals and possibly be crowned the South East Champions!!!
